Overview of Environment Issues

The Environment primarily refers to the ecological (ecosystems) dimension, but can also take account of the social dimension (quality of life) and of the economic dimension (resource management). Environmental issues generally addressed by environmental policy include (but are not limited to) air and water pollution, waste management, ecosystem management, biodiversity protection, and the protection of natural resources, wildlife and endangered species (Wikipedia).

The objective of environmental strategies and activities is to protect, preserve and improve the environment for present and future generations. To achieve this policies ensure a high level of environmental protection in the regions to preserve the quality of life for citizens. The four priorities are climate change; nature and biodiversity; environment, health and quality of life; and natural resources and waste (DG Environment).
